Seven South | Yeronga

Seven South Yeronga review
Though I live on the Northside now, I’m originally from Brisbane’s Western Suburbs (Westside- represent). Back in the day, out that way, my friend’s younger brother used to often tell us, “you’re wrong, go to Yeronga.”

Yeronga back then was a nice enough suburb, but didn’t really have much in the way of urban development, so even though I was wrong, I didn’t really want to go there.

That’s all changed now, with cafes and restaurants popping up in the leafy area, turning it into a bit of a destination point for Brisbanites- whether they’re right or not.

One new venture is Seven South, just a hop skip and a jump away from Hyde Road Park.

It is worth heading out west for? Let’s find out.

Ribs and Burgers Brisbane review
As part of a new and improved 2016, I’ve been trying to do meat-free Mondays and so far my once-a-week leafy delicacies have been going pretty well.

Luckily for me though, when I visited Ribs & Burgers, it was Wednesday.

Rib degustation was the order of the day, as we made our way through racks of ribs that were anything but skeletal.

Let’s find out more about some of the best ribs in town, no bones about it.

Putia review Banyo
Aside from Australian Foodie, I do have a day job (‘don’t give it up,’ I hear you say). This day job happens to be located in the Brisbane suburb of Banyo.

I have to confess, I had never heard of Banyo until I had started at said job, and I also have to admit that there really isn’t that much out here in the way of shops or nice little cafes. Rolling green hills- yes. Piccolo lattes- no.

That all changed though when celebrity chef Dominique Rizzo decided to take this quiet little ‘burb and place it firmly on the Google map, with her restaurant, Putia Pure Food Kitchen.

Putia is a Sicilian word, meaning a small shop selling food, wine and household goods, with Banyo’s Putia single-handedly modernising the café scene in this historic Brisbane area.

How has Banyo taken to little Sicily? Let’s find out.

Let Minnow Café still pays homage to its fishy ancestry, with both its name and its interior artwork, which will have you swimming with the fishes while you chow down on one.

There’s a new bar creating a bit of a buzz in Bulimba. While the beers, wine list, and range of cocktails are impressive (as you'd want from a new bar), there is also some amazingly mouth-watering food on offer.

Located on the lively Oxford St, Barcadia offers a relaxed atmosphere to sit down, have a drink and nibble your way through a wide array of share plates.

That is, if you’re willing to share what comes out of the kitchen.

A new café in Nundah is making the most of its school catchment area, by providing pre-class baked goods for kids, and much needed caffeine for parents doing the weekday drop-off at three nearby schools.

While Fuel & Co. is gaining a reputation for its house-made sweet treats, its extensive menu includes a range of substantial breakfasts and lunches as well.

So why are people looking forward to the school run now? Let’s find out.

There’s something fishy going down at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, and it comes in the form of a bunch of new restaurants opening up there recently.

We had a look at the brand new Pig’s Ear last week, and now we’re sussing out its next door neighbour, Fish Feathers.

Being a seafood lover, I was pretty excited for this new restaurant billed as serving up top quality fruit-of-the-sea menu items.

85 Miskin St Brisbane Food Blog
Degustation dinners are usually few and far between for most people thanks to the hefty price tag attached to the plates and plates of food that are served up.

However, as part of the 10 year celebrations at Toowong restaurant 85 Miskin St, a special July degustation menu has been concocted which features six of the restaurant’s favourite dishes over the past decade.

And the best part? it’s only $60 or $95 with matching wines.
