There’s a new bar creating a bit of a buzz in Bulimba. While the beers, wine list, and range of cocktails are impressive (as you'd want from a new bar), there is also some amazingly mouth-watering food on offer.
Located on the lively Oxford St, Barcadia offers a relaxed atmosphere to sit down, have a drink and nibble your way through a wide array of share plates.
That is, if you’re willing to share what comes out of the kitchen.

With a modern outside deck that sweeps into a warm interior, Barcadia has all bases covered for the right kind of atmosphere.
Whether you're out with friends for a night on the town (in the 'burbs), or are engaging in a more intimate evening, Barcadia has you covered.
We kicked-off our way through the menu with these small delights:
The baby squid was fresh, fresh, fresh and was cooked perfectly. Its light salt and pepper coating didn’t smother the delicate seafood taste at all, but added a nice crunch to the soft squid.
I could have eaten a platter of wagyu beef spring rolls all on my own. These were ridiculously tasty and packed full of meat. I’m often disappointed at how little filling you get in a spring roll, and have been seen on numerous occasions with a sad-face while I hold a half-bitten roll of fried pastry with a token string of carrot poking out from the inside.
The duck ham in the final salad was really interesting. It was lightly smoky and genuinely had a hammy texture. I loved the hazelnuts in this salad which gave a nice crunch to the dish.

Next up were a series of chicken wings for anyone feeling a bit peckish:
I know there’s no way Barcadia can advertise the phrase 'finger-lickin’-good', but that’s exactly what these all were. My pick was the Korean BBQ wings, which came out extra crispy with a nicely balanced sweet and tangy sauce.
While these bites are delicious, they do get a bit messy. It would be a terrible idea to order these if you’re on a first date. Unless it’s going badly.

Finally we nomed our way through a series of make-your-own tortilla boards:
I won’t lie- I was wrapped with each of these.
The tocino pork in particular had a delightfully sweet coating on it which made it very difficult to stop at one.
The beef brisket was also cooked wonderfully and just melted in your mouth. Adding the pickles added a nice tartness to the creamy slaw as well.
- Cajun Chicken, Salsa Fresca, Lettuce and Mojo Verde Tortilla
- Tocino Pork with Kim-Chi and Annatto Sauce Tortilla
- 12 Hour Slow-Cooked Brisket, Sweet Spicy Pickles, Slaw and Adobo BBQ Tortilla

The Barcadia menu is designed for sharing, but with such good quality food on offer, you could easily be forgiven for batting someone else’s fork away.
