A new café in Nundah is making the most of its school catchment area, by providing pre-class baked goods for kids, and much needed caffeine for parents doing the weekday drop-off at three nearby schools.

While Fuel & Co. is gaining a reputation for its house-made sweet treats, its extensive menu includes a range of substantial breakfasts and lunches as well.

So why are people looking forward to the school run now? Let’s find out.

We mentioned that sweet treats were popular among the local Nundah folk, and who can blame them with fresh delights like these on offer?

Danishes, muffins and cakes line the counter, with some healthy bliss balls thrown in for good measure.

From the breakfast menu, we tried:
  • Seasonal avocado on malted pugliese with citrus and sea salt

The fresh pugliese bread was supplied by Le Sebastian Bakery in West End which is renowned for its carb-concoctions, and was divine.

The simple ingredients used in this dish took an everyday menu item and made it something special.

We also tried out something from the lunch menu:
  • Wagyu steak sandwich, with leaves, beetroot relish, pickles and horseradish yoghurt

I was told this dish would change my life and this comment wasn’t far from the truth- I have often thought about this burger since eating it.

This is not your ordinary steak sandwich. This is one of the best steak sandwiches you'll find in Brisbane.

The generous serve of wagyu was cooked perfectly, with a nice pink inside. The thoughtful thin slices of meat also made eating this burger nice and easy.

I loved the creamy horseradish yoghurt as well, adding a spicy tang to the burger, which was served up on a crispy black brioche bun.
