Di Bella coffee has made its mark around Brisbane-town, becoming as synonymous as muffins at various cafés and restaurants.

The team behind the bean has created a new Reserve 2016 blend, and we headed over to the Di Bella Coffee Roasting Warehouse Café in Albion to try it out.

There seem to be a lot of cafes and restaurants opening up in Brisbane lately that specalise in doughnuts or deep fried chicken on waffles. Don't get me wrong- I love that stuff, but eating it every day is not terribly sustainable if you want to fit into your pants next week.

Thankfully, there's another new kid on the scene that will help to keep your body on the right track- Pineapple Express Cafe.

While it has only been a mere five months since I last wrote about Shouk Cafe, I cannot get enough of the food at this place and decided it was time for an update (read: any excuse to eat here).

The dishes at this Paddington cafe all have a touch of Middle Eastern flair about them, which makes for both interesting and delicious eating. I love anywhere that has smashed baklava as a regular meal accompaniment.

You don't always expect to find eating establishments in the middle of suburbia, but when you do it's often a good sign that it can survive as a stand-alone business in between a bunch of houses.

Tucked away down a suburban street in the Ashgrove/ Bardon area is this hidden gem of a cafe: Famished On Frasers.

We stopped in for breakfast after walking up Mt Coot-tha one Sunday morning.

Needless to say we were famished (and on Fraser Rd) so we took finding a cafe with this in its name as a good sign.

There’s something about quirky cafes that just makes me smile. I can instantly feel like I’m in a whole other world just with a few items of sheep pop art on the wall.

Willow and Spoon is one such funky café that takes retro kitsch and wears it with pride to ensure you know you’re at this particular café and nowhere else.

Situated on the suburb border of Windsor and Wilston, Willow and Spoon has made a name for itself for serving up creative meals made from fresh ingredients, sourced from local markets.

With so many great cafes in Brisbane, serial brunchers have never had it so good as we do now. It does mean though, that it has become harder and harder for a restaurant to stand out.

One place that has made a name for itself on the awkward hours dining scene, is this little gem of a cafe in Paddington: Shouk Cafe.

With an all day breakfast menu as well as vast lunch and dinner menus, Shouk has every hour of your day covered for anytime you get a Mediterranean craving.

I've had a go at cooking for special diets such as vegan and paleo, and while I can whip up a pumpkin salad ok, I'm not so strong on avocado mousse cakes.

I can make them, but they're not always terribly tasty. This is where I take my proverbial hat off to a new cafe in Paddington, Brisbane: The Funky Monkey Cafe.

The peeps at Funky Monkey don't see cooking for special diets as a challenge, but rather they see it as a fun gastronomic experience.

And they do it well.

When I think of Spring, I think of fresh grass, flowers in bloom, pastel coloured skies and I also think about excel spreadsheets for some reason. Not sure about that one.

Anyway, a brand new restaurant in Brisbane has released a brand new Spring menu based on fresh local produce, and they have plated up the blossoming meadows and rolling green hills of this season beautifully.
