Aussie Farmers Direct Freshbox Review
Life in general is a little bit harder with a newborn. Doing the groceries is harder. Cooking is harder. Loosing weight- pfft, don't even talk to me about that.

So I was pretty stoked to be able to try the latest offering from the guys at Aussie Farmers Direct- their home delivered WW Freshbox which comes complete with recipes from Weight Watchers. Given that my brain space is currently filled with nap schedules and feeding times, not having to think about what to cook for dinner is an absolute god-send right now.

It's also great to not feel guilty for running out of food at home and serving up a dinner of chips (guilty as charged).

So how does the WW Freshbox stack up? Let's find out.

Darling & Co | Paddington

Darling and Co Paddington review
Now that providence has put me in charge of a newborn baby, I've been finding it a bit tough to go out at night for a nice dinner and drinks with friends. It has therefore made me reconsider the virtues of going out for a long Sunday lunch.

Finding a nice place for said lunch is no mean feat with a number of Brissy cafes closing at the 2pm mark. When I want a long lunch, I mean a looong lunch.

This is where Darling & Co at Paddington steps in. Open seven days from 6:30am - late, you can come in as early as you like and stay here until the cows come home.

But is the food here worth an all day sit-in? Let's take a look.

Little Birdy Cakes Brisbane cake delivery review
A little birdy told me some news yesterday- there's a new cake delivery service in Brisbane that creates some amazingly good cakes and delivers them to your door for cheep cheep.

Little Bridy Cakes bakes out of a kitchen in West End and delivers all over Brisbane for a flat fee of $10. That means you can get cake to you door for less than a Trente Extra Shot Java Chip Soy Frappaccuino at Starbucks.

Don't drink at Starbucks. Order cake instead.

But is the actual cake worth writing home about? Let's pick up a dainty little fork and find out.

Seven South | Yeronga

Seven South Yeronga review
Though I live on the Northside now, I’m originally from Brisbane’s Western Suburbs (Westside- represent). Back in the day, out that way, my friend’s younger brother used to often tell us, “you’re wrong, go to Yeronga.”

Yeronga back then was a nice enough suburb, but didn’t really have much in the way of urban development, so even though I was wrong, I didn’t really want to go there.

That’s all changed now, with cafes and restaurants popping up in the leafy area, turning it into a bit of a destination point for Brisbanites- whether they’re right or not.

One new venture is Seven South, just a hop skip and a jump away from Hyde Road Park.

It is worth heading out west for? Let’s find out.

FlavourCrate Ben Macdonald
One reason I love pottering around at food markets on the weekend is to see what new, tasty concoctions have been created by clever local gourmets.

Sadly I don’t always make it to the markets though, particularly in winter when it’s a toss-up between a warm bed or an early morning forage in the elements.

This is where a brand new foodie service comes in.

FlavourCrate is the brainchild of Masterchef contestant Ben Macdonald, who has been working with Australian producers to collect a bunch of gourmet treats which can then be delivered to your door.

What kid of flavours do you get in a crate? Let’s find out.

Fish Feathers Indooroopilly Seafood Restaurant Review
There’s something fishy going down at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre, and it comes in the form of a bunch of new restaurants opening up there recently.

We had a look at the brand new Pig’s Ear last week, and now we’re sussing out its next door neighbour, Fish Feathers.

Being a seafood lover, I was pretty excited for this new restaurant billed as serving up top quality fruit-of-the-sea menu items.

Let’s find out how this place ships out.

85 Miskin St Brisbane Food Blog
Degustation dinners are usually few and far between for most people thanks to the hefty price tag attached to the plates and plates of food that are served up.

However, as part of the 10 year celebrations at Toowong restaurant 85 Miskin St, a special July degustation menu has been concocted which features six of the restaurant’s favourite dishes over the past decade.

And the best part? it’s only $60 or $95 with matching wines.

Does this affordable night out still serve up the wow factor? Let’s take a look.

Pigs Ear Indooroopilly review
Originally coming from the Western suburbs of Brisbane, I have always been acutely aware that finer dining establishments are few and far between on that side of town. This always resulted in many treks into the city and many $90 taxi fares home back in the day.

Now however, a brand new restaurant has opened on this side of town which offers  great food, a great selection of wine and a cheaper cab ride home (unless you’re from the East side).

Pig’s Ear Wine and Grill can be found on the third level of the newly revamped Indooroopilly Shopping Centre.

Does it bring home the bacon? Let’s find out.

Deer Duck Bistro | Auchenflower

Deer Duck Bistro Auchenflower Brisbane Degustation Review
When I gear up for a degustation dinner, I usually anticipate a restaurant with white linen tablecloths, minimalist furnishings, bright lights and modern streamlined tableware. And bread. Waiters walking around with lots of bread.

A degustation at Deer Duck Bistro however turns all of that on its head (apart from the bread).

With funky furnishings, antique cutlery, an assortment of china plates and a deer head on the wall you know you’re in for a unique experience as soon as you set foot in the door.

As Deer Duck Bistro was just this week awarded a chef's hat in the 2016 Good Food Guide, my already high expectations for this unique restaurant did jump up a notch.

So what is the food like within these quirky quarters? Let’s find out.

Caffe Primavera Corinda Graceville Review
If you live in Brisbane's Western suburbs, chances are you’ve driven past Caffe Primavera on more than one occasion. That’s because it turns sweet sixteen this year and is still going strong.

In an area where restaurants come and like the traffic on Oxley Rd, this is no mean feat.

So why do the locals love it? Let’s take a look.
