If you live in Brisbane's Western suburbs, chances are you’ve driven past Caffe Primavera on more than one occasion. That’s because it turns sweet sixteen this year and is still going strong.
In an area where restaurants come and like the traffic on Oxley Rd, this is no mean feat.
So why do the locals love it? Let’s take a look.

Caffe Primavera may be located on the side of a busy road, but the restaurant makes the most of some fancy blinds to create a cosy inside ambiance takes you a whole world away.
The menu has a wide range of offerings available to satisfy both picky eaters and the more adventurous ones. For this reason, it has become a bit of a regular haunt for our larger family gatherings.
There is also both a full wine list or you can BYO which I am not ashamed to say I’ve taken them up on, on more than one occasion.
My one piece of advice for eating here- come hungry because the portions are the most generous you’ll find this side of the Indooroopilly Bridge.
We arrived for lunch on a Sunday and after much mulling over the menu, we went for:
The burger was a hit with its sizey beef patty covered in melted cheese. The roast mushroom and beetroot chutney were fantastic additions as well.
The beer battered perch was fresh and really well cooked, and we were served a very generous three portions of fish. The homemade tartare sauce was rich and creamy and the fries on both the perch and the burger were nice and crispy too.

We also had:
I had gone for the penne which had a decadent creamy sauce that was so good I could have eaten a whole bowl-full (I guess I kind of did…). There was a good amount of chicken and veggies mixed in as well. Nothing makes me quite as happy as a gigantic serve of pasta, and that’s exactly what I got here.
Finally the day’s special was the braised beef cheeks in a rich, intricate gravy. This was slow cooking at its best, and the polenta was nicely seasoned so it was actually quite tasty which I can’t always say for polenta.
- Penne with Chicken, Roast Pumpkin, Semi Dried Tomato & Spinach in a Creamy Pesto Sauce
- Braised Beef Cheeks on Soft Creamy Polenta with a Winter Vegetable Red Wine Sauce

The menu at Caffe Primavera rarely changes because it doesn’t need to- everything on it is such a hit. Also, there’s so much on offer you can happily come back here numerous times and still not have tried everything.
The locals know that Caffe Primavera is a good call for a reason. Wherever you are in Brisbane, it’s worth the drive west-side to experience the good food here. And lots of it.
