New Farm is renowned as a hub for river walks, bike tracks, park picnicking and general good eating. Basically everything you can love about Brisbane is in this one area.
Tucked away among the neighbourhood's giant camphor laurel trees and historical homes is this cute-as-a-button café/bar/bistro: The Moray Cafe.
We stopped in for lunch on a gusty day in need of some solid sustenance, and we found it here.

We kicked off with a warming coffee, and I was pretty damn excited when my cappuccino came out with real chocolate curls on top.
Yes, yes I know this isn’t a traditional way to serve up this type of coffee, but it’s an extremely tasty way to do so and that gives it a big tick from me.

We both also opted for the Moray Burger which promised to be another treat for the day.
The patty in the burger was really, really tasty and packed with whole mustard seeds. I loved the addition of the sweet pickles and the thin slices of bacon which didn’t overwhelm the tower of burger.
The menu did say we were meant to get a fried egg with our burgers which sadly didn’t eventuate on the plate. We figured we probably had enough food to keep us going though, so didn't worry about it. We were here at quite a busy time.
What we did get though was a pretty generous serve of onion rings, which were battered and fried and unlike any other onion rings we’d ever had before. They were perhaps a touch overdone, but nonetheless, were delicious. I don't know how I can go back to a side of chips after eating these.
The Moray Cafe is a favourite among locals, and with its creative little touches on the menu, you can easily see why.
If you find yourself in Newfarm on a chilly day, take a stroll along Moray St until you find chocolate in your coffee.
