Alcove’s rustic exterior gives it a chilled out charm, which is the exact vibe you want on a Sunday morning.
From the breakfast menu we tried:
Underneath the fresh pita bread of pa’s pie was a mountain of savoury mince which was more satisfying than that feeling you get when you rip off a bandaid. The eggs were poached perfectly, adding a touch of decadence to the tasty mince.
I loved the big plate of breakfast delights that comprised the Alcove breakfast. The bacon and haloumi were both well grilled and the potato apple rosti was a unique take on the old hash brown, and made it a bit special.
The fresh avocado, spinach and dill really picked up what would otherwise have been a pretty heavy plate of food.
From the breakfast menu we tried:
- Pa’s pie: slow cooked savoury mince topped with creamy mash potato, two poached eggs and soft pita
- Alcove breakfast: poached eggs, bacon, potato apple rosti, grilled local haloumi, relish and organic sourdough toast

We also (obviously) were in need of coffees here, and these flat white and cappuccino went down so well we got a roadie to go too.
Alcove takes pride in using local produce, and it does an excellent job of putting these together on a plate.
While there are no guarantees that the breakfasts here will make your hangover go away, it will remind you that you are capable of making good decisions now and then. And yes, when I say "you" I mean "me"...
