Making a decision on what to eat isn’t always straightforward with so many cuisines available on our doorstep (thank you decades of immigration).
Not sure if you’re in the mood for Italian? Mexican? Southern USA deep fried goodness? Yes that is a cuisine...
All of these cravings can be satisfied at the brand new 2Forks in Milton.
Named after the best way to attack slow cooked meat, 2Forks offers a range of shredded meats which can either be served up in a burger, nachos, burrito, or with a salad. There are also a wide range of tasty sides to boot.
So are knives really that overrated? Let’s find out.

Situated just a stone’s throw from the new Milton train station, 2Forks has already made a name for itself by taking a slab of meat, adding some interesting ingredients and setting it to cook at a snail’s pace with the oven bell going off after a good ten hours.
Said meats include Bourbon Pork, Tequila Beef and Beer BBQ Lamb. Yes there is a trend happening here; meat and alcohol. A winning combination.
These variations on a meaty theme can be made into burgers with your choice of a brioche, honey roll or multigrain bun. Or you can opt to have your meat on top of blue corn or white corn nachos.
There’s also the toasted burrito option, a rice option, or you can opt for a bit of meat and salad which is what we decided to do as a token 'New Year New Me' guesture.
Below we had a Char Sui Pork with a Raw Broccoli, Almond and Bean Salad, as well as the Pomegranate Lamb with a Tomato, Bocconcini and Crispy Basil Salad.
Both the pork and lamb itself were melt-in-your-mouth succulent. The Char Sui Pork was filled with Chinese-inspired flavours and was a delight with the creamy raw broccoli salad.
I loved the pomegranate seeds on the lamb, but the meat itself could have had a bit more of the fruit’s tart flavour throughout it. The crispy basil in the salad offered a unique crunch to this traditional caprese-style side.

Yes we went healthy on the mains options. No we didn’t on the sides.
We teamed up our salads with a serve of Panko Crumbed Onion Rings, with Hot Chilli Mayo and Spicy Wings with Blue Cheese Mayo. In both cases, they had me at mayo.
Both of these sides were a winner with the onion rings wrapped in a lovely light panko crust. The blue cheese mayo that came with the spicy wings was just as decadent as it sounds. I’m only sad it didn’t come with its own spoon.
To season your various dishes, 2Forks provides a unique salt station featuring an array of salts. What, there’s more than one salt flavour you may ask? I certainly did and I was schooled right here at this salt box.
Here you could opt for Sriracha Salt, Toasted Onion Salt, Garlic Salt, Szechuan Pepper Salt and Rosemary Salt among others.
We tried the Garlic Salt and Smoked Salt. The Garlic Salt has finely diced fresh garlic throughout and was a super tasty condiment to our condiment. The Smoked Salt was as smoky as its name suggested and was just fantastic as well.

If you’re in a group with varying tastes, 2Forks is a winner for being able to satisfy a range of cuisine cravings. There are vego options available as well if that is a dietary requirement, but let's face it, this place really is one for the carnivores.
