After a hot day spent working in the yard, I decided it was an optimal time to take on a beer taste-test (any excuse really) and decided on this little bottle of Summer.
Matso's Mango Beer had been recommended to me by a few beer aficionados, but I'd not seen it in any bottle shops until I trekked to a nearby boutique bottle-o.

While fruit beer can risk being a bit too much on the sweet side, this beer was nicely balanced with a blend of tangy hops and real mango. The beer is brewed in a Belgium Blonde style, which to me makes for easy drinking, and was perfect on a scorching day.
Matso's Mango Beer offered more of a dry aftertaste than that clawing sweet sensation on your tongue that can come with some flavoured beers that have overdosed on the sugar. I have previously had Belgium fruit beers which were nice, but I had to stop at one bottle as the fruit taste was so overpowering it began to feel like I was drinking juice. That doesn't happen with this mango beer- I hapily polished off three bottles with ease before sadly realising that there was still more work to be done in the garden (I took a fourth bottle as a backyard-roadie).
Matso's is a Broome-based microbrewry, but for such a niche producer, they have quite an array of beverages to choose from including Desert Lime & Wild Ginger Cider, Ginger Beer and a Smokey Bishop Dark Larger. If the mango beer is anything to go by, I'm sure these other offerings will be pretty up there on the quality scale.
