Substation No. 41 Brisbane food blog
The Breakfast Creek Hotel has been a Queensland institution for the past 126 years, and its modern incarnation boasts five bars inside, including one of the world’s largest rum bars.

Substation No. 41 showcases over 500 rums, which is a whole lot of “yo ho ho-ing” to get through.

If you tasted a different rum each night, it would take you a year and a half to try all of them out. At which point you’d probably forget what the first one tasted like and have to start all over again.

So what’s the drinking experience like here? Let’s find out.

The Gresham Bar Brisbane review
Stepping into The Gresham in Brisbane is like standing in the peanut butter aisle in a U.S. supermarket– a whole other world of variety opens up to you.

Much as I love both The Gresham and peanut butter, the similarities  perhaps stop here.

The Gresham is an old world bar steeped in heritage which is something very, very, very difficult to find in Brisbane. It boasts the only Heritage Bar License in Queensland, meaning that you know you’re in for an architectural treat with your after work drink.

So what’s on offer at this bar? Let’s take a look.

Pig N Whistle Brunswick St Fortitude Valley Review
The Pig ‘N’ Whistle seems to be popping up all over town, with this one on the corner of Brunswick and Robertson Streets in the Valley, being the latest addition to the pig drove.

Gone are the days of the dark, dingy British theme pub in this newest of whistling piggy establishments.

This Valley pub is a lighter and more modern variation on a theme.

Pony Dining Eagle St Pier Brisbane Review Bar Drinks
Being in the River City and all, I'm always excited when I get to enjoy a drink by the Brisbane River.

Yes it's brown and yes it's home to small sharks, and yes it floods and causes chaotic damage, but it's still a bit of nature running through the city.

And it's all we've got, so let's roll with it. What better way to while away a few hours than by having cocktails by the water?

We rocked up to Pony Dining on Eagle St Pier just as the heavens were about to open and add a few more drops of water to said river after a stinking hot day.

Noosa on the Sunshine Coast has long been known for its gorgeous beaches and delectable foodie delights, but now thanks to this little gem of a bar, it's also becoming renowned for its cocktails.

While the bar staff will make you a cosmopolitan if you ask for one, the list of cocktail capers at Miss Moneypenny's on Hastings St is so creative and unique that you'll wonder why the women from Sex and the City didn't stray from their regular choice of drink every now and then.
