Ramekins Cafe is in Carseldine Central, just off Gympie Rd. It aims to provide northsiders with a relaxing place to settle down with good food and coffee.
Has it achieved this goal? Let's find out.
The breakfast menu at Ramekins is genuinely impressive with options including Coco Pops Panacotta, a Breakfast Burger, or a variety of Eggs Benedicts.
Below we ordered the Pineapple and Coconut Bread topped with coconut yoghurt and lime syrup, toasted flaked coconut and fresh raspberries. We also went for the Sweet Potato Fritters with spring onions and coriander, served with "son-in-law" eggs (boiled and deep fried), chilli caramel and cashew crumble.
The pineapple and coconut bread tastes just as tropical as it sounds, and was a top choice on a hot summer day. The tangy lime syrup and coconut yoghurt perfectly offset the sweetness of the pineapple. The fresh berries and edible flowers sprinkled on top made this such a pretty dish.
I can't get enough of the sweet potato fritters here and have made this my habitual go-to menu option. The chili caramel and cashew crumble bring this dish to life with a dash of Asian flavour, and the son-in-law egg on top is genuinely the best way to eat the humble egg with a beautiful soft yolk on the inside and a crispy outer egg white thanks to some quick deep-frying.
If you're in the neighbourhood, Ramekins is a brilliant cafe to score some fantastic noms. Even if you're not in the neighbourhood, it's worth the tank of fuel to get there!
