Thankfully, there's another new kid on the scene that will help to keep your body on the right track- Pineapple Express Cafe.
This superfood cafe has docked at Hamilton's Portside and has offerings packed full of acai, goji berries and coconut meat/ water/ flakes.
But how good does all of this healthy food taste? Let's find out.
After eating here, I think I would be more than happy to become a health nut.
Below we had:
- Organic nachos
- Naked Beef Burgers
- Naked Lamb Burgers
- Acai Anti Blast Smoothie (Acai, Blueberries, Banana, Pineapple, Coconut Oil, Coconut Water, Raspberries and Goji Berries)
Everything was just plain tasty. The nachos were some of the best I'd ever had, topped with well-seasoned beautiful quality beef mince and generous lashings of guacamole and sour cream. I loved the kale and chilli on it too for some added nutrients to what is usually a dish not known for its health benefits.
The lettuce-wrapped naked burgers were a winner as well. Despite a lack of bun, they were supremely filling thanks to all the protein we were eating. The patties themselves were again made with awesome quality meat, and the cumin in the lamb burgers was a nice touch.
Who knew healthy eating could be so satisfying?
- Titanic Smoothie (Passionfruit, Raspberries, Strawberries, Mango, Coconut Meat, Coconut Water)
- Peanut Butter + Chocolate Smoothie (Cacao, Organic Peanut Butter, Dates, Banana, Choc Coyo Yoghurt, Almond Milk with Raw Peanuts)
- Protein Pancakes
- Coco Whip
All of the smoothies we had were very, very moreish. The Acai Anti Blast felt like the perfect thing to drink in Winter to keep the colds and other random lurgies away. The peanut butter and chocolate smoothie was as decadent as it sounded, but not too heavy thanks to its dairy-free nature.
The protein pancakes were topped with mixed berries, honey, coconut yoghurt and bee pollen and were again very satisfying both taste-wise and health-wise.
We then got to 'whip it good' and make our own coco whip creations. I went for a matcha/vanilla swirl coco whip topped with strawberries, goji berries, coconut flakes, chocolate sauce and salted caramel sauce. A little bit of superfood, a little bit of super-delicious food.
