Life is uncertain- eat dessert first.
Located among the Grey St restaurants at Brisbane's Southbank, Cowch is the perfect place for anyone who can't stop at one Tim Tam.
- Coffee in a bowl
- Dark chocolate shot
After all of the sugar we knew was headed our way, we decided to up the ante on the coffee size too! Though it was served in a bowl, it was still nice and strong.
The dark chocolate shot was exactly as rich and decadent as it looks in the picture below. It was pure gluttony in a little dish.
- Churros : Baked not fried, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and served with Hot Shot
- Strawberries and cream pizza : Milk Choc base, strawberries, crushed almonds, white chocolate crispy pearls, whipped cream.
The strawberries and cream pizza was an absolute winner- I almost don't know why savoury pizzas exist after eating this.
The white chocolate crispy pearls added a nice texture to all of the otherwise soft but rich toppings. The dollops of cream actually lifted this dish- you know you're talking about a seriously dense dessert-breakfast when you say that!
I loved how the churros was baked and not fried, so there was no oiliness about them at all. When you're eating dessert for breakfast you need to take any virtuous wins that come your way!
They were a bit odd with the ricotta and passionfruit which was recommended to me, but they worked a treat in the aforementioned dark chocolate shot.
Everyone who came into the restaurant immediately looked up and smiled, and I can't blame them. This is mooooving interior design.
I would probably not recommend doing dessert-breakfast every day of the week, but if you've got a special occasion or just fancy a bit of decadence on a Tuesday morning, Cowch is a udderly good place to fix an early morning sugar craving.
