As we've reached the end of Summer festivities and are starting to dig out the jumpers a bit more, I thought it would be a good time to start checking out some warming detox options.

Just as I was thinking this, I stumbled upon these herbal teas at the Brisbane MarketPlace Markets.

4 Pines Kolsch Review

After downing and loving 4 Pines Pale Ale at the start of the year, I was readily inspired to drink my way through another 4 Pines offering and came across their quirky Kolsch.

Kolsch is typically a specialty beer brewed in Cologne (Köln) in Germany, and is the German answer to the British pale ales, which makes for an interesting style for the Manly brewery to take on.

Bionade Lychee, Elderberry, Herbs & Ginger Orange Review

bionade review australia
While I do enjoy a beer (evidently from this site) there are some days when my liver says, "Enough Tanya! I need a break no matter how tasty that malted barley is!" At this point, I usually reply, "It's ok liver, I'll find something equally as delicious but healthier for you," and while my conversation with my liver continues for a few minutes more, I will save you the verbatim.

One drink that actually ticks the "as-satisfying-as-a-beer-but-is-not-alcoholic" box is Bionade, which is relatively new to the Aussie market.

little creatures beer pale ale
What local Drinks-Blog is complete without mention of this well-known quality Aussie bevy? None I say! And so here it is: Little Creatures Pale Ale is a beer staple in our house for good reason, it's delicious.

First released in Summer 2001, Little Creatures started off in Freemantle, W.A. but has been such a popular drop, they now also brew in Geelong, Victoria.

Coldstream Hills 2010 Merlot Review

yarra valley merlot coldstream
Despite it being the height of Summer, we were in the mood for some slow-cooked lamb shanks over the weekend, and popped into Brisbane's Wine Emporium to ask for a wine recommendation to match the rich meal but wouldn't be too heavy for people who had spent all day aircon-hopping in an attempt to desperately to keep cool.

The resulting wine was the Coldstream Hills 2010 Merlot, and it went down a treat!

4 Pines Pale Ale Review

Happy new beer 2014! Summer is well and truly on which makes for some excellent beer tasting conditions, and I thought I'd start with a brew I had quite a bit when I was living in Sydney a few years back.

4 Pines is based in Manly in Sydney's northern beaches where they have their own bar and restaurant set-up. If you can't make it to Sydney, then it's worth bringing a little of it into your home and the 4 Pines Pale Ale is a good way to go about it.

Matilda Bay Beer Review

Some of my favourite weekend drinks this year have come from the Matilda Bay Brewing Company, and these guys were creative enough to create a "Brewers Briefcase" on sale over the Christmas season, giving us beer-lovers that chance for a beer comparison in the comfort of our own homes, while watching Australia take out the Ashes (sorry people from the U.K. who ended up on this page!).

Matso's Mango Beer Review

matsos mango beer
After a hot day spent working in the yard, I decided it was an optimal time to take on a beer taste-test (any excuse really) and decided on this little bottle of Summer.

Matso's Mango Beer had been recommended to me by a few beer aficionados, but I'd not seen it in any bottle shops until I trekked to a nearby boutique bottle-o.

Guest review by Majamke.

In my opinion, Domaine A is Australia's best cab sauv producer. While the Stoney Vineyard is their 2nd tier label, it's still a fantastic wine and gives an indication of what this winemaker is all about.

ocean eight pinot noir
Guest review by Majamke.

I've been reading rave reviews about Ocean Eight for a while now, so when we were recently in the Mornington Peninsula, a visit to the cellar door was high up on the list.

We were lucky enough to go beyond the front door and venture into the actual cellar where we sampled various barrels and really got an appreciation of the different recent vintages being produced by this small winery.
